Day 1

Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Dadés Valley

Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8 o´clock in the morning, and depart to the High Atlas,Sof Moroccan Atlas mountains,  going through Tizi N´Tichka port with stops for panoramic views and taking pictures of the Berber small villages that camouflage in the landscape. Then we continue south to the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot in this spectacular  stage, including Gladiator , Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz…etc. Free time for lunch in town. Then we continue to Ouarzazate also known as “The gate of the desert” that in Berber language means “noiseless or without confusion”. Here we´ll see the Taourirt kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. The next site to visit is the Rose Valley going through the big Skoura palm grove; a beautiful place to contemplate more than 700.000 palms and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surrounding area.  In this Valley damascenes roses are raised for cosmetic use such as the valued rosewater. The Rose Festival is held here annually in May, it is an important museum for Moroccan culture. Finally we reach the Dades valley where we´ll spend the night.

Day 2

Dadés Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga – Camel Trek  and overnight in Berber Camp

After breakfast we´ll enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Dades Valley from one strategic lookout in the mountains, from there we can appreciate the great number of kasbahs and the scenic characteristics of each one. A very good asphalt road leads up the valley from the city of Tinerhir to the gorge and then to the desert.  After some stops on the way we´ll reach the Todra Gorges. The scenery is spectacular. Local people live in the area and can be seen in their adobe villages. Thanks to its rock sides with many uneven surfaces, these gorges are popular among rock climbers. After a short walk in the Todra gorges you´l have free time for lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug and then we continue our way to the desert to reach the spectacular dunes of Merzouga. We´ll take there a camel ride of one hour to our nomad camp located in the middle of a sea of dunes (Erg Chebbi). Before dinner we´ll see the sunset at the top of a dune for then sleep in a tent under a beautiful starry sky.

Then we return to Merzouga on the camels where a delicious breakfast is waiting for us. Having regained strength we start our last trip day going through the arid pre-desertic area where we´ll meet the “acacia”, typical tree of this landscapes. On the way to the Draa valley we´ll make some stops to enjoy the beautiful views of the river that gives name to the valley. Its the longest river in Morocco, going through the hole country reaching Mauritania. Our trip continues towards Ouarzazate going through the Anti Atlas. What an incredible trip with Hassan! He took us on a three day private tour through the Atlas Mountains and desert of Morocco. Everything was perfectly planned, and when I say he took care of everything, I really mean it, from the gracious hotels, to finding restaurants that had vegetarian and gluten free options for two of the people in our group, to knowing every possible panoramic viewpoint of the beautiful Moroccan landscape we might enjoy. I really appreciated him sharing his culture with us and his extensive knowledge about Morocco throughout the trip. For the service and all-inclusive experience we received from Hassan, the price was very cheap. You MUST travel to Morocco, and you MUST book a tour with Sky Morocco Tours.

Excellent performance and tolerance from our guide. We were very surprised by the number of languages he knew and from all his knowladge generally. He showed us the best places possible and explained us everything we needed to know. He is trustworthy and pation. We had no problem contacting him and the prices were low. I would highly recommend the Sky Morocco Tour for every family, couple, friend… It was a pleasure working with this man.

Get the most out of your journey to Morocco with Sky Morocco Trips!

The days spent on my tour with Hassan were some of the best of my life! Having him as our guide really allowed my friends and I to make the most of our week in Morocco. We got to see the diversity of the Moroccan landscape and culture come to life with him on our three day tour through the Atlas Mountains and the desert.

I will never forget that bumpy camel ride through the rolling Merzouga sand dunes, staring in awe at the constantly changing scenery of the Atlas Mountains, feeding shy monkeys fresh cherries in the cedar woods and trekking through the Todra Gorge – just like I will never forget the ceaseless generosity of Hassan.

From the moment he picked us up from our Airbnb, Hassan consistently went out of the way to make our trip truly unforgettable and surprisingly personalized. He found special places for those in our group with dietary restrictions, stopped whenever we needed a coffee/bathroom break or even just whenever the beautiful scenery called us out of the car. Our trip was also packed with many surprises, like when he gifted me and another girl traditional Moroccan pants and got us hennas at a roadside stop. When the tour was over, he even offered to drive us to our next stop (all the way from Fes to Chefchaouen). I’ve never met such a genuinely kind person with such an interesting backstory that amplified the tour and gave us a better understanding of Moroccan culture – the perfect balance of educational zest and indelible fun!

I was at first hesitant to choose a private tour over a group tour but we got the most of our money with Hassan. We saw way more than we ever could have imagined, learned more than we ever thought from his interesting anecdotes and overall just had a good time dancing along in the car with him to traditional Berber music while stumbling to master important Berber and Arabic phrases.

Hassan wasn’t just a tour guide or a chauffeur; he was our friend – and he will be our forever friend now! We can’t wait to come back and see him again and continue exploring this beautifully diverse country – and I STRONGLY recommend anyone else who wants to REALLY experience Morocco to as well.
